GOALS AND CHALLENGES:  Updated 17 August 2011

  • 60 books (47 of the 60 have to be on my shelf as of 1/1/11)      Status: 37/60 books finished, of which 35 were tbrs. 21 books abandoned for lack of interest; total 58 books moved from the TBR shelf to the read or give away shelf!
  • 6 older books (Steinbeck, DuMaurier etc)  Status: 2/6 finished
  • 10 books from the 1001 books to read before you die list Status: 3/10 finished
  • 12 non-fiction:  Status: 11/12 finished
  • 4 books in Spanish or  Latin Authors:  Status 3/4 finished
  • 500+ hours, 20,000 pages; Status: 10,098 pages and  277 hours read (updated 12 august 2011)

What I want to do with this list is remove books from my shelves either by reading them, or deciding I’m probably never going to read the book, giving it away and making space for other books.  So as I pick a book, if within 10, 50 or 100 pages I decide I don’t want to read it, it’ll get crossed  off this list and put into the donation pile.  Should I ever want to read the book in the future, there’s always the library.

ABANDONED – wrong time, wrong book, not in the mood, poor writing – for whatever reason these books have been on my shelves too long and they’ve had more than one chance to get read.  If I note shelved it’s because more than likely the book is more of a reference book than a straight non-fiction book and I’ll keep it. But no matter how much I wanted to like them, I don’t and would rather move on.  Too many books, too little time…..
